
Sirmione is a little village on the Lake Garda, a real beautiful place were to spend some days strolling around the old city center while eating gelato and relaxing at the Terme di Sirmione.
The thermal water spring of Sirmione has been known since the Renaissance, take the chance to visit the thermal baths while you’re there!
How to reach Sirmione by train
The nearest train station for Sirmione is Desenzano del Garda. Most trains from Milan to Venice stop there, with the exception of high speed trains. Remember to read our guide on how to take trains in Italy if you have any question about train tickets!
From the Desenzano del Garda train station there’s a 10 minutes walk to reach the ferry boats harbour. From there you can reach Sirmione. Buy tickets for Sirmione here.
How to reach Sirmione by car
We don’t suggest to go to Sirmione by car, since there’s little chance to park nearby. The village is so small that it will be difficult to drive there, but if you want to reach Sirmione by car, take the Autostrada A4 from Milan or Venice and take the exit for Sirmione. Follow directions to the city center.
How to reach Sirmione by ferry
Ferry pier is located close to the Castello Scaligeri. A ferry is the easiest option to reach Sirmione from the shores of Lake Garda, so consider one of the connections if you’re in one of the many the destinations at the shores of the lake, especially at its southern half: Lazise, Garda, etc…

What to see in Sirmione
Once in Sirmione there are a lot of attractions to visit: take a walk through the old town. Lined with restaurants and small shops, you’ll have a lot to do and see!
Visit Scaliger Castle, built in the 13th century, this is one of Italy’s best-preserved castles and it’s just next to the ferry boats pier!
