Time needed: 1 hour
Made famous in the USA by George Clooney (he owns a villa in the little village of Laglio), Lake Como is one of the most visited tourist destinations in northern Italy, so how do you get to Lake Como from Milan? If you’re spending some days in Milan it’s easy to reach the lake by train.
Follow our instructions!
- Go to Milano Cadorna Train Station
You can easily reach Cadorna Train station using the Milan Metro system, there’s a red and a green line stop at Cadorna FN.
- Buy a ticket for COMO LAGO
At the time of writing the round trip ticket is 9.60€ (around 10.75$), 4.80€ one way. You can easily buy the ticket from vending machines or at the ticket office (opened everyday 6.30am – 9pm).
- Wait for the train
Stamp your ticket and enter the trains platform. There are two big and easy to read screens listing all the departing trains.
To look at timetables, visit Trenord’s website: http://www.trenord.it/en/home.aspx during rush hours (6am – 10am / 5pm – 8pm) there’s a train every 30 minutes, back and forth. - Take the train
Once you’re onboard, have a sit and relax. Como Lago train station is the terminal station for the Milano – Como line, so you don’t need to watch for your next stop. The trip takes 1 hour.
- You’re in Como!
The Como Lago train station is at a super fast 1 minute walk from the lake itself! Enjoy the view! Just remind that if you want to get back, you have to take the trains going to Milano Cadorna.
Super easy, isn’t it? One last thing. If you happen to be in Como around Christmas time, don’t miss the Christmas markets! Christmas lights make the city a magical place to visit!
